Workshop on Protected Areas in Armenia

In the frame of the Road to COP17 initiative, our workshop dedicated to advancing protected and conserved areas explored opportunities for expanding Armenia's network of protected areas through the use of newly proposed category - protected landscapes as a key tool. We have also discussed improving the management effectiveness of existing sites. This effort aligns with the backbone of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which calls for the effective conservation and expansion of protected terrestrial and marine ecosystems to cover at least 30% of the planet by 2030.

On November 11, the American University of Armenia (AUA) Acopian Center for the Environment hosted the “Protected and Conserved Areas for Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework Success in Armenia” workshop within the framework of the Road to COP17 Initiative in cooperation with the Nature Conservancy Agency of the Czech Republic.
